Multiple myeloma drug trials to launch in Australia

A drug designed for patients with multiple myeloma is to undergo phase II clinical trials in Australia, it has been announced.

Drug maker Cytopia Limited said it plans to recruit up to 24 people with a relapsed or refractory form of the condition who have not responded satisfactorily to previously approved treatments.

The trial will take place at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, with each participant receiving a dose of CYT997, which the firm says "potently disrupts myeloma cells".

Multiple myeloma is an uncommon form of cancer, with the NHS commenting that around 3,000 people will develop it in the UK each year.

People aged 65 and above are the most likely to have the disease, which currently has no cure.

However, the NHS points out that some treatments can help ease the symptoms and put a halt to the spread of the condition.

Masters can source drugs currently undergoing clinical trials from more than manufacturers and distribute them quickly to more than 35 countries around the world for patients with a unique unmet need.ADNFCR-1276-ID-18400232-ADNFCR
